What's New
13SEP2009 - From the FSO-MS, Wendy Wooddell First and foremost, I want to thank all of you that are participating in trash clean up around the lake and river areas. All of you are doing a great job in the heat of the summer. Don't forget to play it safe out there and bring and drink a lot of drinking water. We are beginning to see a lot of snakes so it is important to pay close attention to what and how you pick something up as there could be a snake or scorpions under it. In cooperation with La Paz County Sheriff SAR and the Arizona State University, Jim Wooddell has created a Safety program for snakes if anyone is interested. During a recent 70N mission, a small amount of Marijuana was found. The local Sheriff was called immediately and instructions were given as to what to do with it and due to the circumstances and people involved, asked to deliver this to the Sheriff's office. It needs to be pointed out that this is NOT normally the case. It's important to understand that drugs of any kind are considered bio-hazardous. In a routine 70N patrol, it is our responsibility to only OBSERVE and REPORT Haz-Mat, bio-hazard finds, etc. We are not to touch or move this stuff. This includes motor oil found in the desert washes. The best thing to do is let the experts handle it. Call the authorities first, take pictures, record GPS coordinates and mark the location. Give them the best description of the location and what you see as you can. So remember, if it's explosive, corrosive, a bio-hazardous material, drugs or chemical in nature, only OBSERVE and REPORT. The authorities may want you to meet them and have you take them back to the location or secure the scene with tape. And, it probably won't happen instantly, so be aware nothing at all might be done, don't let this surprise you. As always, please contact your FSO-MS or the FSO-FC prior to going on 70N missions and please report back when you are done and what you found or did! Again, thank you for your efforts, it makes all the difference in the world knowing you are out there and involved! Keep up the good work!!!

APC Course Now Available Online The Administrative Procedure Course (APC) – is now available on Auxiliary eLearning. This course is will prepare you to take the APC test on the National Testing Center, which is a prerequisite for holding elected office . It takes the student through the subject matter in a systematic way, introducing and summarizing existing Auxiliary resources and evaluating the student’s progress. The APC covers a lot of material – essentially the entire Auxiliary Manual, and many of our members have had difficulty passing the test due to inadequate preparation. If you can take this course, and complete the chapter quizzes with a score of 90 percent, you will almost certainly pass the online test as well. You can access the course at: http://64.207.134.26/usr/moodle2/course/view.php?id=43. You may need to create an Aux eLearn account if this is your first visit. If you have any questions or comments on the course, contact Nick Tarlson, DC-Td at nick@tarlson.com. [Posted: Apr 15, 2009. Source: Nick G. Tarlson, DC-Td]
